ScribeText and these terms

These terms govern your use of the ScribeText website at scribetext.com and its available services. “ScribeText”, “we” and “us” refer to the team operating the service. Contact us at hi@scribetext.com.

You must be able to enter into a binding agreement under the law that applies to you. If you use ScribeText for an organization, you must have authority to act for it. These terms do not remove rights that applicable consumer or data protection law gives you.

Available features and previews

ScribeText's core purpose is to turn recordings into editable text, with related subtitle exports, summaries and mind maps as those features become available.

The audio picker provides local playback before you start. Starting transcription uploads the recording for speech recognition and saves its result to your account. Requested summaries and mind maps use the saved transcript. The separate sample workspace uses illustrative content and does not transcribe a selected file.

Features marked as previews, planned or unavailable are not a promise of delivery on a particular date. A pricing preview does not start a subscription or charge you. Only an actual completed purchase can create a paid service entitlement.

Your account

Provide accurate account information and protect your sign-in credentials. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. Tell us if you suspect unauthorized access so that it can be investigated. Do not use another person's account without permission, bypass access controls or misrepresent your identity.

Recordings and other content you provide

You retain your rights in recordings, transcripts and other content you submit. You are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed to record, upload and process that content, including any notices or consent required from speakers or other affected people.

You grant ScribeText and the service providers acting on its behalf a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, copy and process your content only as necessary to provide the features you request, maintain security and handle support or legal obligations. This is not a general license to publish, sell or distribute your recordings, or to use them for unrelated model training.

Do not submit content that violates privacy, confidentiality, intellectual-property rights or applicable law. Do not upload malware, attempt to interfere with other users, evade service limits or obtain access to another person's files.

Transcripts, summaries and AI results

Automated results can contain errors or omissions, including incorrect names, speaker assignments, timestamps or summaries. Review the original recording and check the output before publishing, relying on it or sharing it with others. A summary or mind map is a condensed interpretation and may leave out context.

ScribeText does not promise a particular accuracy level, processing time or supported format beyond what is expressly offered for the feature you use. Results are not a substitute for qualified advice or human review where accuracy has significant consequences. You are responsible for decisions made using the output.

Paid plans and billing

Prices, billing periods, usage and renewal conditions are shown before purchase. The initial Pro offer is USD $8 monthly or $60 annually, with 800 transcription minutes per subscription month for either billing period. Unused minutes do not roll over. Verified accounts receive a one-time 10-minute trial. We use Stripe checkout and subscription management. Development sandbox checkout is a test and does not collect real payment.

For an automatically renewing subscription, you authorize recurring charges only through the applicable checkout consent. The plan renews for the stated period until canceled. An annual plan is charged for the disclosed annual total; a displayed monthly equivalent is not monthly billing. Annual billing does not by itself grant the entire year's usage allowance at once.

The offer and order confirmation determine your included minutes and features. These terms do not independently promise unlimited use, unused-minute rollover, free-allowance refreshes or unlimited AI regeneration. Changes for future purchases or renewals do not retroactively change an already paid service period; any renewal change must be disclosed with the notice required by law.

Cancellation, refunds and service issues

When subscriptions are available, the billing area will provide access to subscription management and cancellation. A cancellation stops future renewal in accordance with the date shown in that flow. Deleting an account or uninstalling a future app is not a substitute for canceling a subscription.

Any additional voluntary refund policy will be disclosed before purchase; it has not yet been set for the current preview. These terms do not waive refunds or remedies required by law. For duplicate charges, an unauthorized payment or a paid service that was not delivered, contact hi@scribetext.com with the relevant order reference. Do not send a full card number or card security code.

A recording can be up to 2 GB and 5 hours, within the account's remaining minutes. Time is reserved before processing and successful transcription is charged once using the provider-reported duration rounded up to seconds; a failed job releases its reservation. Deleting a completed recording does not refund its used minutes. AI notes allow up to three generation attempts per recording and ten attempts per account in a rolling 24 hours. Long notes use multiple processing steps; uncertain requests are not silently repeated.

Storage, deletion and privacy

Keep your own copy of important recordings and exports. Local preview data is not an account backup, and downloaded files are controlled by you. New original audio uploads are scheduled for deletion after 30 days, with active jobs protected and failed cleanup retried. Saved transcripts and notes remain until their record or account is deleted. Incomplete uploads expire after 24 hours. See the Privacy Policy for provider copies and asynchronous deletion.

Our Privacy Policy explains what data is handled and how to request deletion. Account deletion does not necessarily remove separate provider records, downloaded copies or information that must be retained by law.

Service protection and availability

We may restrict access when reasonably needed to address misuse, fraud, a security incident or a legal obligation. Where practical and lawful, we will explain the reason and how to contact us about a mistake. We do not use this provision to avoid obligations for paid services or mandatory consumer remedies.

Service interruptions can occur because of maintenance, network failures or provider outages. Except for express commitments and rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, the service is provided on an “as available” basis. Nothing here excludes liability or remedies that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the service develops. Material changes will be notified as required before they affect you; simply posting a new version does not create permission for a new charge or unrelated use of your content.
