Your recording, ready to work with.
Find a quote in an interview, revisit a lecture or turn a voice memo into a draft. ScribeText keeps the recording and editable transcript together, so you can listen, check the words and take the result with you.
Start with the recording you have.
Upload an MP3, M4A or WAV from your device. Keep the original file: there is no need to play it through your microphone or convert a supported format first. Language detection is automatic, with an English option when you know the language.
Each file can be up to 2 GB or five hours, within your remaining minutes. A verified account gets 10 free transcription minutes once. The upload limit is not a free allowance; you see the recording duration and available balance before starting.
Have an iPhone voice memo? See how to export and transcribe your M4A. For a local MP4, use the video transcription workspace.
From audio to text in three steps.
1. Choose and preview
Select a file above and listen to the local preview. Sign in with Google or verify your email, check your minutes, then start transcription. Selecting a file alone does not upload it.
2. Listen and correct
Open the completed transcript alongside your recording. Search for a phrase, return to its timestamp and save your corrections. Check names, numbers and overlapping speech carefully: an AI draft can miss a small word that changes the meaning.
3. Export or get the key points
Download the checked text, export timed subtitles, or create an AI summary and basic mind map. Summary references take you back to the transcript so you can check the context before using a quote or acting on a decision.
A transcript, subtitles or a shorter overview.
| Output | Use it for |
|---|---|
| TXT transcript | Editable words for interview notes, article drafts and searchable records. |
| SRT subtitles | Text with cue numbers and timestamps for your video editor. Check timing against the final media. |
| AI summary & mind map | Key points and a visual outline linked to the transcript. Review them against the source before sharing. |
TXT and SRT use the same transcription; changing the export does not run speech recognition again. For subtitle-specific guidance, see creating and checking SRT cues.

Your recordings stay private.
Your uploaded recordings and results belong to your account and are not published on this site. Audio is sent to our transcription provider to produce the text; this is a cloud service, not an offline converter. See how we handle your recordings and data.
New source audio is kept for 30 days. Saved transcripts, summaries and mind maps remain until you delete the recording or your account. Keep your own audio backup if you will need to listen again later.
Before you start.
Can I try it for free?
Yes. Each verified account receives 10 minutes once. Google users with a verified email do not need a separate email verification. Pro includes 800 minutes per month, with no rollover. Compare the transcription plans.
What if my recording is longer than my balance?
Choose a shorter recording or check your plan before starting. Minutes are reserved at the start and charged once when transcription completes. Downloading your text does not use more minutes.
Can it handle background noise or several speakers?
Clear speech is easier to transcribe. Noise, accents and people talking at once can produce errors, so use the clearest recording you have and review uncertain passages. With overlapping voices, check who said what before quoting someone.
Will it translate my recording?
No. Transcription writes down the spoken language. It does not translate every recording into English.
